"Embark on an exhilarating and vigorous journey down a brutal skiing slope in this composition for brass trio, Black Diamond! This piece outlines the mentalities and emotions felt when taking on any daunting challenge through shifting atmospheres and confidence levels reflected in diverse sections of music.
The true gravity of the grueling mountain is felt immediately in the piece in a section labeled ‘Manic Anticipation’, depicting initial jitters and lots of second guessing if this challenge is worth it. After some wonky mixed meter and sharp dissonances, we slowly start to get the hang of things through the introduction of a more grounded melody. But this confidence quickly gets to our heads causing us to make more impulsive and haphazard decisions, ultimately wiping out completely.
While laying down in the snow, we start to question if this journey is even worth it. We begin doubting ourself as a skier, as an athlete, and then even as a person, thinking “If I can’t do this, what can I do?”. But we decide to pick ourselves back up and start to work our way down the mountain yet again.
With a newfound sense of determination, we work towards the bottom of the mountain with a level head. Even with those doubts creeping in, we try to remember the thrill of overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles and why we subject ourselves to such ruthlessness. We find ourself in a complete state of flow, locked in to the task at hand without another care in the world. And through this perseverance and focus, we ultimately conquer the mountain."
Great brass trio that is going to be incredibly challenging!!!

As always I simply like the text in her books
As always I simply like the text in her books. Tons of experience shared with great insight. Prescriptions on how to execute the exercises is a game changer and I would recommend both her books to all my trombone friends. These books are important for getting the basics in order, sound, air-flow, breathing, relaxation and endurance just to mention a few great tips for taking your playing to next level. Dimply great books

The Arrival of Something Truly Unique in Bucket Mutes
I have been following the design process of this entry into the bucket mute family for some time. Love the fact that is driven by active professional performers. My feeling is that is is a NEW take on the 'traditional' bucket. Rather than filling the mute chamber with dampening material, the design team developed a SONIC DIFUSER that, along with the overall design components, makes this a completely unique interpretation that remains rooted in tradition.
Superior, design and build/materials. EASE OF USE -easy on/off. And the maker worked with me to ensure a proper bell fit with my large bell - and communication throughout the order process was nimble, responsive and efficient. Not for nothing, affordably priced.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have every Bass Trombone mute from MorningStar mutes
I have every Bass Trombone mute from MorningStar mutes. Each is impeccable in quality, and sound, as well as build, has great intonation, and does not make my horns play sharp. I consider they used to be master-crafted mutes, and well worth the price paid.
