This short character piece for Contrabass Trombone was originally written about Bifrost, a burning mythical bridge that connects Asgard to Midgard (earth) in Norse mythology. Heimdall, the watcher among the Norse Gods, guards the bridge from the jotuns—the giants. The contrabass takes the roll of Heimdall’s famed horn, calling the gods to battle upon the bridge. This work was originally commissioned by Dr. Spencer Hudson.
