Gifted to my friend Dr. Ben Vasko, this character piece playfully describes the badger, an animal that looks harmless and cute but is among the more dangerous animals to be caught with in a tussle. Taking advantage of the tuba’s rich tonal palette, my goal was to push the boundaries of the instrument in its nimbleness when paired with the full and resonant sustain that the tuba is often so well known for.
