Passages was composed for Heather Mensch and the Tyler Junior College Trombone Choir. It was composed while I was reflecting on my first teacher, Jack Sears, celebrating a milestone birthday; my college teacher, Mark Lusk, announcing his retirement; and my father, Jack Neff, at the end of his days. The piece begins slowly and reflective, grows to a quick, celebratory theme and finally shifts back to the opening reflection.
