Quanquan Yan: Howl of the Empty Mountain for Trombone Choir

The inspiration for this piece comes from human emotions and the howls of
wolves echoing through the night. These cries, mournful like weeping, emerge
from an unknown place deep within the darkness of the mountains. In that
moment, nature, animals, and humanity seem to merge into one.
The music drifts between stillness and rupture, seeking to respond—through
sound—to those inexpressible emotions: a cry in solitude, a search for resonance in
the dark.
