My standard Trumpet Straight Mute is a B2: medium-shallow with standard resistance.
BUT, if you want more control: here are some options: With cup depth ranging from A to E, and resistance 1 (most restrictive) to 3 (most open), and resonator materials including aluminum, brass, copper, rosewood, and LW Fiber, these mutes give lots of feel and sound options. I’m a beginning player so I may not be able to give a deep analysis, but I really like some of the features of the mute. First, it's light. That helps me concentrate on working the valves instead of fighting to hold the horn up.
Second, you can set the position of the mute inside the bell by moving three rubber strips which are held by Velcro. This is a clever feature which lets you change the sound quality and volume. Smart! It’ll be a great addition to my bag of tricks.
As always I simply like the text in her books. Tons of experience shared with great insight. Prescriptions on how to execute the exercises is a game changer and I would recommend both her books to all my trombone friends. These books are important for getting the basics in order, sound, air-flow, breathing, relaxation and endurance just to mention a few great tips for taking your playing to next level. I have been following the design process of this entry into the bucket mute family for some time. Love the fact that is driven by active professional performers. My feeling is that is is a NEW take on the 'traditional' bucket. Rather than filling the mute chamber with dampening material, the design team developed a SONIC DIFUSER that, along with the overall design components, makes this a completely unique interpretation that remains rooted in tradition.
Superior, design and build/materials. EASE OF USE -easy on/off. And the maker worked with me to ensure a proper bell fit with my large bell - and communication throughout the order process was nimble, responsive and efficient. Not for nothing, affordably priced.

Warm and open, while still retaining that quintessential 'cup mute' sound. It certainly has all the notes, too!

I have every Bass Trombone mute from MorningStar mutes. Each is impeccable in quality, and sound, as well as build, has great intonation, and does not make my horns play sharp. I consider they used to be master-crafted mutes, and well worth the price paid.
